Summer Camp Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question that is not answered below, please contact us at info@KimsGym.com or call (512)826-8015. We are always here to help and want to make sure that your family enjoys their camp experience!

How does drop off work?

Tiny Tumblers Camp (3-4 year olds)
Tiny Tumblers campers must be walked into the gym by an adult. Your child’s coach will be ready for them at 8:45AM in the front side of the basketball court.  Please do not drop them off in the carpool line.

Gymnastics Camp (entering Kinder – 5th grades)
You will drop off your campers at the circle drive in the back of the campus.  To get there, pull into the J, and follow the road all the way back behind all of the buildings.  You can drop them off between 8:45-9:00AM in the carpool line.  We are planning to bring the kids from your cars and walk them to the playscape, and then to the gym for our morning activities. If you are late, we will most likely be in the gym until 9:15AM when we will begin gymnastics. Please try to be on time for drop off as we have a whole day of fun planned.

How does pick up work?

Tiny Tumblers Camp (3-4 year olds)
The Tiny Tumblers who are going home at 1PM will need to be picked up in the back circle drive.  To get there, pull into the J, and follow the road all the way back behind all of the buildings. We will be waiting for you in the shade.  You can park in the circle drive and walk up to get your child.  We will not walk your children to the car, so please park and come get them.
For the 4 year old Tiny Tumblers campers who are staying until 3:45PM, please read the instructions for Gymnastics Camp.  It will be the same for your children.

Gymnastics Camp
You can pick your kids up at 3:45 PM in the circle drive behind the education building.  We will have the kiddos under the covered area. You can pull through the drive to pick up your child.  We will give everyone a dashboard placard on Monday.  Please fill it out and have it on the passenger side of your dashboard.  This will help us tremendously with the carpool line.  If you are running late, please call 512-826-8015 to notify us. There is no PM care for the week of June 8th, so everyone must be picked up at 3:45PM in the circle drive.

What should my child wear?

Please send your child in comfortable clothes. They can wear a leotard or a t-shirt with shorts. If you would like to purchase a leotard or shorts for your child to wear, you can send him/her with money/a check in an envelope, and we can help get them fitted. Our red camp leotard is $30 (includes tax) and shorts are $15. We also have leotards in a variety of designs and prices on our merchandise rack. If you would like to purchase one of these please walk your child to the gym during drop-off to pick one out. Checks can be made to Kim’s Gym. It is also important to put long hair up in a pony tail as it is difficult to do gymnastics with hair down.

LABEL EVERYTHING… this includes water bottles, lunch boxes, towels, swim suits, swim shirts, goggles, sunscreen, and anything else your child brings to camp.  This helps us a lot if they leave something behind.

Please send your child in shoes that she/he can take on and off by themselves. We will be taking our shoes off and on lots of times throughout the day, and this really speeds up the process.

What should my child bring?

*Please note that our 3 & 4 year old campers who go home at 1PM do NOT swim and do not need a swimsuit or towel.
All full day campers need to bring a (labeled) swimsuit*, towel*, sunscreen*, and a kosher/vegetarian lunch to camp with them each day. Please try to pack these items in a bag that they can carry on their own.   Some easy ideas for a kosher lunch are: PB&J sandwich, tuna sandwich, cheese sandwich, cheese pizza, pasta leftovers, etc.  Please let us know if you need more ideas, and don’t forget a drink. We do not have use of a microwave, so please do not send anything that needs to be heated. Friday is pizza day, so your child will not need to bring lunch. Pizza Day was included in the price of camp, so every child will receive pizza, fruit, and a juice box. We will provide a mid morning snack every day, and your child will do cooking (arts & crafts with food) each afternoon.

Pool Procedures

Please email us if your child needs a life vest in the pool. We want to be sure that we know that before camp begins. Our swim time is free swim, not swimming lessons.

We will automatically put all Tiny Tumblers (4 year olds) in life vests during swim time. All campers who want to swim without a life vest will be required to pass a swim test on the first day of camp. This swim test will require campers to jump in and swim the length of the pool. Upon completion of the test your camper will be given a wristband that allows them to swim without a life jacket. If your camper does not pass, or does not wish to take the test, they will have to wear a life vest in the pool area.

Your camper will alternate each day between swimming and water games, it is important that they remember to pack a swimsuit every day.

What will my child do at camp?

Each day your child will get to do the following activities:
Gymnastics (bars, beam, vault, floor, mini-tramp, & air trak)
Arts & Crafts
Cooking
Outdoor Adventure (play-scape)
Camp Surprise
Camp Carnival
Swimming or Water Games

These stations are spread out around the JCC campus, so it is going to be a fast and fun day that they are going to love!
